It was a quieter year for photography in 2013. The highlight was exhibiting at the Ballarat International Foto Biennale in the newly restored Mechanics Institute from 17August to 15 September. 16 images were hung and seven sold for a total of $4,000 including a second set of three jumping polar bears. At the request of the Mechanics Institute Board five of the images were retained in the entrance hall for the official opening of the renovations in November.
Unfortunately the planned exhibition by the City of Melbourne of photos taken in St Petersburg has not yet taken place due to the local impact of St Petersburg having recently passing strict anti-homosexual laws. Maybe the exhibition will happen in 2014 with the 25th anniversary of the City of Melborne / City of St Petersburg Sister City relationship. All I want to do is to show people my beautiful images of the rich culture of St Petersburg!
At year end, commercial work in progress and orders in the pipeline are the busiest I can remember – but then I am about to enter my 70th year!
